David Jafari is an attorney licensed in California and the District of Columbia. He started Jafari Law Group, Inc. in June 2005. His practice as a lawyer has focused primarily on intellectual property, business law, and employment matters. Mr. Jafari has also served as a mediator and has helped clients settle cases outside of court, avoiding costly and unnecessary litigation. He holds a Certificate in Mediation from the Orange County Human Relations Council, is a part of the Mandatory Fee Arbitration committee of the Orange County Bar Association, and is also associated with Quality Dispute Resolution Services and IVAMS Arbitration and Mediation Services. Mr. Jafari has represented clients in over 70 litigation cases.
Prior to establishing his own practice, Mr. Jafari lived and worked in Washington D.C. for four years as an associate trial attorney in the intellectual property, media, and technology groups at McDermott Will & Emery, an international law firm with a diversified business practice. Prior to this position, Mr. Jafari also gained experience as an associate patent attorney by drafting and prosecuting technological patent applications for Blakely Sokoloff Taylor & Zafman, a national law firm. Mr. Jafari earned his JD degree from Western State University College of Law where he graduated cum laude, ranked third in his class of 122 students, and received six American Jurisprudence awards (highest grade in the class) in Contracts, Civil Procedure, Evidence Practice, Negotiations, Professional Skills, and Uniform Commercial Code. He also clerked for the Honorable Justice Sheila Prell Sonenshine at the California Court of Appeal in Santa Ana, California, where he drafted both civil and criminal opinions.
Mr. Jafari was admitted to the State Bar of California on June 19, 2000 (member number 207,881) and was registered as a patent attorney on August 5, 2002 (registration number 51,839). He is also admitted to practice in the US District Court for the Southern District of California, and the US District Court for the Central District of California. He is further admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, the US District Court for the District of Columbia, the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, and the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Previous to attending law school, Mr. Jafari received a BS in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in Computer Science, and an MS in Communications Engineering with an emphasis in Coding Theory from George Washington University (GWU). While working on his graduate degree, David taught four undergraduate courses at GWU School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He successfully took the Masters Comprehensive Exam at GWU and took a number of courses towards his PhD. Mr. Jafari also speaks fluent Farsi.
Saul Acherman is an attorney licensed in California. He focuses on intellectual property matters. Mr. Acherman began his legal career with Jafari Law Group during the early days of the firm’s establishment in 2005 as a paralegal. He worked on patent and trademark matters, and returned in 2013 where he continues to work on all aspects of intellectual property, including procurement, licensing, and litigation.
Mr. Acherman is also a registered patent attorney licensed to practice in patent matters before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (registration number 72,898). He is also involved with other business and civil litigation matters including business formation, contracts, and employment matters, and is admitted to practice in all courts of the State of California as well as the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
After receiving a BA in Philosophy from the University of Southern California, Mr. Acherman earned a JD from Northwestern California University, Sacramento. He went on to study Physics, with an emphasis on Computational Physics at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas before returning to California to practice law. As a native of Colombia, Mr. Acherman is also fluent in Spanish.
André Ausseresses is an attorney at Jafari Law Group. He has been with the firm since 2012 when he began an externship and became a certified law student. In 2015, he passed the California Bar Examination and is licensed to practice in all California state courts. He has worked on numerous business, employment, and intellectual property matters since joining the firm.
Mr. Ausseresses earned a JD from Chapman University Fowler School of Law. While at Chapman, he gained courtroom experience through the Bette and Wylie Aitken Family Violence Clinic at the Lamoreaux Justice Center, and earned a CALI award (highest grade in the class) for his clinical work. He was also a quarterfinalist in the first year Moot Court Appellate Competition, and received Westlaw Next and Lexis Nexis research certifications.
Previous to attending law school, Mr. Ausseresses earned a BA from the University of Utah in International Studies, minored in French, and studied abroad at l’Institut de Touraine in Tours, France. In his downtime, Mr. Ausseresses enjoys spending time with his family, or on a stand-up paddle board in the Pacific Ocean.
